Accion Venture Lab, now operating as Accion Ventures following a rebranding in September 2025, is the seed-stage impact investment arm of Accion International, a global nonprofit founded in 1961 with a mission to build a financially inclusive world. The initiative was launched in 2012 with $10 million in initial capital, establishing itself as one of the earliest dedicated impact venture funds for fintech startups serving underserved populations. Operating from Washington, D.C., the firm invests $300,000 to $500,000 as an initial check in companies providing financial services to low-income consumers and small businesses across Africa, Asia, and Latin America, active in more than 35 countries. In September 2025, the firm announced the final close of Accion Venture Lab Fund II at $61.6 million, backed by limited partners including FMO, Proparco, the Ford Foundation, MetLife, Mastercard, and ImpactAssets. To date, the firm has deployed capital into more than 76 early-stage fintech startups globally, generating approximately $13 in follow-on equity capital for every dollar it invests. Managed by Managing Partner Amee Parbhoo, the firm takes a hands-on capital-plus approach, pairing seed checks with dedicated portfolio engagement across governance, fundraising strategy, and operations. The firm focuses on inclusive fintech trends including embedded finance, agrifinance, insurtech, digital lending, and payroll technology. Beyond its original investments in Destacame, Konfío, Musoni, and Tala, the firm's portfolio includes Branch, Apollo Agriculture, Pula, Olyv (formerly SmartCoin), Cashinvoice, PaidHR, FinFra, Foyer, and Flowcart.
