About

Canaan Partners

Camel Ventures is a Cairo-based early-stage venture capital firm focused on fintech startups in Egypt and the broader MENA region, providing seed capital to technology companies building financial infrastructure, payment systems, and digital financial services for one of the Arab world's most populous markets. The firm targets companies at the very early stages of development, investing from $100,000 to $500,000 in founders who are addressing real financial access and payments challenges in Egypt, where traditional banking penetration has historically been low and mobile-first financial services represent a large greenfield opportunity. Camel Ventures focuses on fintech specifically, reflecting the view that financial infrastructure, digital payments, and credit access are the most foundational problems to solve in Egypt before other technology verticals can fully develop. The firm is one of a small number of dedicated early-stage fintech investors in Egypt and operates alongside angel networks such as Cairo Angels and larger seed and Series A funds in providing the earliest institutional capital to Egyptian founders. Portfolio companies include Paymob, the Egyptian payments infrastructure company that provides digital payment solutions to merchants and has expanded across the MENA region; and KlickIt, an additional portfolio company in the Egyptian digital commerce and payments space. Both Cairo Angels and Camel Ventures list Paymob in their portfolios, reflecting its status as one of Egypt's most significant fintech companies and the recipient of early investment from multiple early-stage Egyptian investors.
