Canary is a São Paulo-based early-stage venture capital firm investing in Brazilian and Latin American technology startups at pre-seed through seed stages, founded to address the shortage of first institutional checks available to Brazilian founders before they reach the stage required to access larger regional venture funds. The firm invests from $250,000 to $2 million with a focus on technology-enabled businesses across fintech, SaaS, B2B platforms, and consumer internet, and takes a founder-first approach that prioritizes early conviction over demanding significant commercial traction before committing capital. Canary's team brings operating experience from within the Brazilian startup ecosystem and maintains close relationships with the Series A and growth investors in Brazil and internationally who will fund the subsequent rounds of its best portfolio companies. The Brazilian technology ecosystem has undergone a structural acceleration since 2015, producing unicorns across fintech, logistics, and enterprise software, and Canary is positioned as one of the specialist early-stage investors providing capital to founders at the earliest stages of this next wave of Brazilian company formation. Portfolio companies include Loft, the Brazilian real estate technology platform; CloudWalk, the Brazilian fintech providing payment infrastructure and POS solutions for merchants; Singu, a beauty and wellness services marketplace; ContaAzul, the online accounting and financial management platform for Brazilian small businesses acquired by Conta Azul; and Pipefy, the process automation and workflow management platform that has expanded internationally. Beyond these original investments, the portfolio includes additional Brazilian technology companies across fintech, SaaS, and digital marketplace businesses.
