Citi Ventures is the corporate venture capital arm of Citigroup, focused on investing in early and growth-stage technology companies building the next generation of financial services infrastructure, payments, and enterprise technology, with emphasis on companies where Citi's global banking relationships and financial industry expertise can provide strategic value. The unit invests at Series A and Series B stages with initial checks from $2 million to $15 million in fintech companies and enterprise technology businesses relevant to Citi's operations. Citi Ventures operates from San Francisco and draws on Citi's position as one of the world's most internationally active banks, with operations in over 160 countries, to provide portfolio companies with commercial partnerships at global scale. The firm is particularly active in payments infrastructure, digital lending, identity and compliance technology, and enterprise software for financial institutions. Portfolio companies include Square, the payments company now known as Block; Betterment, the digital investment platform; Jumio, the identity verification and compliance automation platform; and Socure, the AI-powered identity verification platform. Beyond these original investments, Citi Ventures has backed dozens of companies across payments, lending, identity verification, and enterprise fintech.
