Collaborative Fund

Collaborative Fund is a New York-based venture capital firm founded in 2010 by Craig Shapiro, dedicated to investing at seed and early stages in companies that combine profit with positive social impact, operating from the conviction that purpose-driven businesses will outperform over the long term. The firm has developed a proprietary investment framework called the Villain Test, asking whether a company could eventually become harmful but profitable. Collaborative Fund manages over $1 billion in assets across multiple fund vehicles including its flagship consumer and technology funds and a Shared Future Fund for climate technology. Since its founding, the firm has invested in more than 300 companies and achieved nearly 60 exits, with its inaugural fund achieving a 4.1x net DPI. Portfolio companies include Kickstarter; Lyft, which completed a Nasdaq IPO; Reddit, which completed a NYSE IPO; Sweetgreen, which completed a NYSE IPO; OLIPOP; WHOOP; Beyond Meat (Nasdaq); and Blue Bottle Coffee (acquired by Nestlé). Beyond its original investments in Kickstarter, Lyft, Spotify, and Sweetgreen, the portfolio includes additional consumer, climate, and technology companies.
