About

Crosscut Ventures

Crosscut Ventures is a Los Angeles-based early-stage venture capital firm founded by Brian Garrett, focused on seed and Series A investments in consumer technology and enterprise software companies emerging from the Los Angeles and Southern California technology ecosystem, with a thesis that the city's unique strengths in media, entertainment, fashion, retail, and creator economy businesses create startup opportunities that Silicon Valley investors are systematically underweight in identifying and supporting. The firm invests with initial checks from $500,000 to $3 million and has been one of the most active seed investors in the LA market. Portfolio companies include Beachbody, the fitness and health content company; Bird, the electric scooter and micromobility company; and Honey, the browser extension and couponing platform that was acquired by PayPal for $4 billion in 2020, representing one of the largest LA technology acquisitions. Beyond its original investments in Beachbody, Bird, CTRL+ALT+DEL, and Honey, the portfolio includes additional Southern California consumer, media, and enterprise technology companies.
