CRV

CRV, formerly Charles River Ventures, is one of the longest-running and most consistently successful early-stage venture capital firms in the United States, founded in 1970 to commercialize research emerging from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and named after the Charles River in Boston. The firm has raised more than $4.3 billion across approximately eighteen funds over more than five decades of continuous operation, backing more than 750 startups across seed and Series A stages, with approximately 80 going public. CRV relocated from its Cambridge, Massachusetts origins to Silicon Valley and now operates from Palo Alto and San Francisco, rebranding from Charles River Ventures to CRV in 2014. The firm operates an equal partnership model in which all partners hold equal title, pay, carry, and votes, and prides itself on moving fast to give founders a term sheet without the friction of an investment committee. Twitter was backed at Series A. DoorDash's seed round was led by CRV. Zendesk, HubSpot, Airtable, and Vercel are portfolio companies. Note: rows 154 and 155 in the source directory both describe CRV.
