DataTribe is a Fulton, Maryland-based cybersecurity-focused startup studio and venture fund that operates at the intersection of US government intelligence community expertise and commercial technology entrepreneurship, co-founding and incubating cybersecurity companies built by founders with backgrounds in US national security agencies including the NSA, CIA, and US Cyber Command. The firm operates a hybrid model: it recruits former intelligence community technologists and operators, helps them form companies around problems they identified while working in national security, and provides seed capital alongside co-founding resources including office space, talent acquisition support, legal assistance, and commercial go-to-market guidance. DataTribe invests with initial checks from $500,000 to $3 million at pre-seed and seed stages, often leading the initial formation of the company. Portfolio companies include Attila Security, a mobile security company; Boldend, a cyber offense capability company; Dragos, the industrial cybersecurity company protecting operational technology and critical infrastructure that has become a unicorn valued at over $1.7 billion; and Enveil, the encrypted computation company protecting sensitive data during use. Beyond its original investments in Attila Security, Boldend, Dragos, and Enveil, the portfolio includes additional cybersecurity companies co-founded with US national security community alumni.
