Equal Ventures is a New York-based seed and Series A venture capital firm focused on consumer brands, consumer technology, and marketplace businesses, investing in founders building the next generation of consumer products, lifestyle brands, and digital consumer platforms. The firm invests with initial checks from $500,000 to $3 million and brings expertise in consumer brand building, digital marketing, and direct-to-consumer distribution strategy to its portfolio companies. Equal Ventures operates with a thesis that the fragmentation of media and the democratisation of manufacturing and distribution have permanently changed the economics of consumer brand creation, enabling much smaller companies to build loyal audiences and competitive products. Portfolio companies include Aviator Nation, the vintage California-inspired apparel brand; Brava, a consumer technology or consumer services company; Outer, the sustainable outdoor furniture brand with a built-in showroom model; and Phat Fudge, a performance nutrition food brand. Beyond its original investments, the portfolio includes additional consumer brand and marketplace companies.
