FirstMark Capital is a New York-based seed and Series A venture capital firm founded by Rick Heitzmann, focused on backing visionary founders in consumer internet, enterprise software, data and AI businesses at their earliest stages. The firm invests with initial checks from $2 million to $10 million and has developed particular strength in identifying transformative platform companies before their significance is widely recognised. Airbnb was backed by FirstMark before becoming one of the most valuable companies in history and completing a Nasdaq IPO in 2020. Discord, the gaming and community communication platform, is a FirstMark portfolio company. Figma, the collaborative design platform, was backed by FirstMark at an early stage. Pinterest completed a NYSE IPO in 2019 with FirstMark as a major early investor. Beyond its original investments in Airbnb, Discord, Figma, and Pinterest, the portfolio includes DraftKings, StubHub, and dozens of additional consumer and enterprise technology companies.
