General Atlantic is a New York-based global growth equity firm founded in 1980 by Chuck Feeney that manages more than $90 billion in assets across multiple geographies and sector strategies, and has been one of the most active and consequential growth investors in Latin American technology over the past decade, backing several of the region's most significant unicorns and public companies. General Atlantic invests at growth equity stages with initial checks from $50 million to $200 million or more in companies that have achieved strong product-market fit and significant revenue scale. Stone, the Brazilian payments company, completed a Nasdaq IPO in 2018. Nubank, the Brazilian digital bank, received General Atlantic investment before completing a NYSE IPO in 2021 at approximately $41 billion. VTEX, the enterprise commerce platform, was backed by General Atlantic before its NYSE IPO in 2021. Arco Educação, the Brazilian educational content company, was backed by General Atlantic. Beyond its original investments in Stone, Nubank, VTEX, and Arco Educação, General Atlantic's Latin America portfolio includes additional growth-stage technology companies across fintech, edtech, consumer internet, and enterprise software.
