Goodwell Investments is an Amsterdam-based impact investment firm focused on providing growth capital to financial services and fintech companies serving underbanked and underserved populations in Sub-Saharan Africa, applying a dual mandate of generating competitive financial returns alongside measurable positive social impact for low-income consumers and small businesses. The firm was co-founded by Wim van der Beek and Maarten Spek and invests at Series A and Series B stages with checks from $1 million to $5 million in companies that are using technology and innovative business models to expand access to credit, savings, insurance, and payments. Portfolio companies include Zoona, the Southern African mobile money platform enabling financial transactions in Zambia and Malawi; MyBucks, the pan-African digital lending company; and Branch International, the mobile financial services company providing instant credit in Kenya, India, Mexico, and the Philippines. Beyond its original investments, the portfolio includes additional African and emerging market fintech companies focused on financial inclusion.
