HAVAÍC is a Cape Town-based seed and Series A venture capital firm focused on technology investments across South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa, investing in early-stage companies building scalable digital businesses in fintech, climate technology, insurance technology, and health technology. Founded in 2013, the firm was one of the earlier dedicated institutional seed investors in South Africa and has built a track record of backing companies that have gone on to achieve significant scale. HAVAÍC invests with initial checks from $250,000 to $2 million at seed through early Series A stages. Portfolio companies include Sun Exchange, the peer-to-peer solar energy marketplace that allows anyone globally to buy solar cells installed on African rooftops and earn rental income while providing clean energy to schools and businesses; PayJustNow, the South African buy-now-pay-later and consumer credit platform; and TymeBank, the South African digital bank that has expanded across Southern and Southeast Asia. Beyond its original investments in Sun Exchange, PayJustNow, and TymeBank, the portfolio includes additional South African and pan-African technology companies.
