About

Inspired Capital

Inspired Capital is a New York-based seed and Series A venture capital firm focused on fintech and financial services technology, founded by Alexa von Tobel, the founder of LearnVest, the personal finance and financial planning platform acquired by Northwestern Mutual, who applies her experience building a fintech company from zero to acquisition to identifying and backing the next generation of financial technology founders. The firm invests with initial checks from $500,000 to $3 million at seed and Series A stages in companies building the next generation of consumer financial services, payments infrastructure, banking technology, and enterprise financial software, bringing genuine operational empathy for the challenges of building regulated financial products alongside the capital. Inspired Capital takes a founder-forward approach, with von Tobel's background as a fintech founder providing credibility and practical insight that traditional financial investors cannot replicate. Portfolio companies include Cleo, the AI-powered financial wellness and budgeting application for millennials and Gen Z; Column, the nationally chartered bank and API banking infrastructure company; Highbeam, the fintech platform providing working capital and financial services for CPG brands; and Ramp, the corporate card and spend management platform that has grown to a valuation of approximately $7.65 billion. Beyond its original investments in Cleo, Column, Highbeam, and Ramp, the portfolio includes additional consumer and enterprise fintech companies.
