J2 Ventures

J2 Ventures is a Boston-based seed and Series A venture capital firm focused on cybersecurity and defence technology companies, investing in early-stage technology companies whose founders have backgrounds in US national security, intelligence, and defence communities and who are building commercial companies around technologies and capabilities they developed or encountered while serving in these institutions. The firm was founded in 2022 and applies a national security lens to its investment diligence, focusing on companies building in cybersecurity, autonomous systems, intelligence technology, and other areas where government and defence applications create initial markets that subsequently expand to enterprise and commercial opportunities. J2 Ventures provides portfolio companies not only with capital but with access to a network of former government officials, defence contractors, and intelligence community alumni who can serve as advisors, customer contacts, and commercial partners for companies seeking to penetrate the government and defence technology market. Portfolio companies include Bastille, the radio frequency security company detecting rogue wireless devices in enterprise and government facilities; Boldend, the cyber offense capability company also backed by DataTribe; Cape Analytics, the geospatial analytics and property intelligence platform; and Govini, the data science and AI platform for defence acquisition and contracting. Beyond its original investments, the portfolio includes additional defence technology and cybersecurity companies.
