Janngo Capital is an Abidjan-based venture capital and impact fund focused on technology companies in Francophone Africa, founded by Fatoumata Ba, a prominent African technology entrepreneur and investor who previously held leadership roles at Facebook and Jumia, investing in early-stage companies across all technology sectors in French-speaking African markets where institutional venture capital remains scarce. The firm is invested with checks from $500,000 to $3 million at seed and Series A stages, and is distinguished by its commitment to backing founders across gender and geographic lines in markets that are systematically overlooked by most African VC activity, which is disproportionately concentrated in anglophone markets. Janngo Capital also operates Janngo Studio, a venture builder model to co-found digital companies in sectors where the investment team identifies structural gaps. Portfolio companies include Saviu Ventures; and Expensya, the Tunisian expense management and travel software platform acquired by Medius, a Swedish financial automation company, in 2023. Beyond its original investments, the portfolio includes additional Francophone African technology companies across fintech, health, education, and enterprise software.
