Matrix Partners is a San Francisco-based venture capital firm founded in 1977, one of Silicon Valley's oldest and most consistently successful early-stage venture capital partnerships. The firm invests from seed through Series B stages with initial checks from $3 million to $15 million in enterprise software, consumer technology, and infrastructure companies. HubSpot, the inbound marketing, sales, and customer service platform that completed a NYSE IPO in 2014, was backed by Matrix Partners as a lead investor at its earliest institutional rounds. Zendesk, the customer service software platform, was backed by Matrix. Oculus VR was acquired by Facebook for $2 billion in 2014. Quora, the question-and-answer knowledge platform, is a portfolio company. Beyond its original investments in HubSpot, Zendesk, Oculus, and Quora, the portfolio includes Vistaprint, SolarWinds, and hundreds of additional enterprise and consumer technology companies.
