Medicxi is a London-based life sciences venture capital firm spun out from Index Ventures in 2016, focused exclusively on seed and early clinical-stage investments in biopharmaceutical companies developing innovative therapeutic approaches. The firm was co-founded by Francesco De Rubertis and operates with a partner group combining venture capital expertise with deep pharmaceutical industry and clinical development backgrounds. Medicxi invests with initial checks from $3 million to $20 million at seed through Series B stages. Portfolio companies include Autifony Therapeutics, the UK biotech developing treatments for hearing disorders; Caris Life Sciences, the cancer diagnostics and molecular intelligence company; Complement Therapeutics, a clinical-stage company targeting complement-mediated diseases; and Silence Therapeutics, the RNA interference therapeutics company. Beyond its original investments, the portfolio includes additional early-stage European and global biopharmaceutical companies.
