Merlin Ventures is a Washington, DC-based seed and Series A venture capital firm focused exclusively on cybersecurity technology companies, investing in early-stage security businesses developing next-generation capabilities for enterprise, government, and critical infrastructure customers. Based in the DC area, the firm has privileged access to the National Capital Region's concentration of government agencies, intelligence community contractors, and defense technology companies. Merlin invests with initial checks from $500,000 to $3 million. Portfolio companies include Ataata, the cybersecurity awareness training and human risk management platform; CyberSaint, the risk management and cybersecurity framework compliance automation platform; GrammaTech, the software assurance and binary analysis platform; and PhishMe, the spear-phishing simulation and cybersecurity awareness training platform. Beyond its original investments, the portfolio includes additional enterprise and government cybersecurity companies.
