NFX is a San Francisco-based pre-seed and seed venture capital firm founded by Pete Flint (Trulia founder), James Currier, Gigi Levy-Weiss, and Morgan Beller, built around a distinctive network effects and marketplace investment thesis. The firm invests with initial checks from $1 million to $3 million and publishes extensively through the NFX Essay collection on network effects, marketplace dynamics, and growth strategy. Lyft was backed by NFX. Trulia, co-founded by NFX partner Pete Flint, was acquired by Zillow for $3.5 billion in 2015. DoorDash was a pre-seed NFX investment. Patreon is a portfolio company. Beyond its original investments in Lyft, Trulia, DoorDash, and Patreon, the portfolio includes Coda, Rappi, Substack, and additional marketplace, consumer, and AI companies.
