Novastar Ventures is a Nairobi-based impact venture capital firm focused on seed through Series B investments in companies across East Africa building scalable businesses addressing fundamental challenges in climate resilience, agriculture, health, fintech, and energy for low-income and rural populations. The firm invests with initial checks from $1 million to $7 million. Portfolio companies include M-KOPA, the African connected asset financing platform with more than four million customers across Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria, and Ghana; Apollo Agriculture, the Kenyan smallholder farmer financing and inputs platform; Sanku, the East African company distributing fortified flour to prevent micronutrient deficiency; and ARC Ride, the Kenyan electric motorcycle company. Beyond its original investments, the portfolio includes additional East African impact technology companies.
