Pear VC is a San Francisco-based pre-seed and seed venture capital firm founded by Mar Hesse and Pejman Nozad, investing in companies at the very earliest stages of company formation across AI, enterprise software, consumer technology, and fintech, with a model that combines very early investment with deep operational involvement. The firm invests with initial checks from $500,000 to $2 million. DoorDash was a Pear VC-backed company from its earliest stages when it was still called Palo Alto Delivery; it completed a Nasdaq IPO in 2020 at a market capitalization of more than $30 billion. Gusto, the payroll and HR platform for small businesses, was also backed by Pear. Beyond its original investments in DoorDash and Gusto, the portfolio includes Clubhouse, Branch, and additional early-stage AI, consumer, and enterprise technology companies.
