Playfair Capital is a London-based seed and early Series A venture capital firm focused on fintech, artificial intelligence, enterprise software, and consumer technology companies, investing in technically ambitious founders at the earliest institutional stages in the UK and Europe. The firm was founded by Federico Pirzio-Biroli and invests with initial checks from $500,000 to $2 million. Portfolio companies include Bud, the open banking and financial data platform; iwoca, the UK SME lending platform; ComplyAdvantage, the AI-powered financial crime intelligence and anti-money laundering platform; and Koru Kids, the childcare and afterschool activity booking platform. Beyond its original investments, the portfolio includes additional UK fintech, AI, enterprise, and consumer technology companies.
