Radical Ventures

Radical Ventures is a Toronto-based venture capital firm founded in 2017 by Jordan Jacobs and Tomi Poutanen, focused exclusively on artificial intelligence companies at seed through growth stages, investing in founders building AI-native companies and backing some of the most prominent AI researchers and entrepreneurs in the world. The firm was established with direct connections to the University of Toronto's AI research community and to Geoffrey Hinton, the Turing Award-winning pioneer of deep learning who serves as an advisor. The firm invests with initial checks from $3 million to $15 million. Portfolio companies include Cohere, the enterprise large language model platform; and Waabi, the autonomous trucking company founded by Raquel Urtasun. Beyond its original investments in Cohere and Waabi, the portfolio includes additional AI companies across computer vision, natural language processing, robotics, and AI infrastructure.
