Shell Ventures is the corporate venture capital arm of Shell plc, the global energy company, investing in early and growth-stage technology companies developing innovations in clean energy, electrification, sustainable mobility, and energy efficiency. Shell Ventures is distinct from Shell Foundation, which is the charitable and impact investment arm. The firm invests at Series A and Series B stages with initial checks from $2 million to $15 million and is headquartered in The Hague, Netherlands. Portfolio companies include ChargePoint, the electric vehicle charging infrastructure network that completed a NYSE listing via SPAC in 2021; LiquidPower, the drag-reducing agent technology company; Makani, the airborne wind energy kite company developed within Alphabet that was shut down in 2020; and Silicon Ranch, the US commercial and industrial solar energy developer. Beyond its original investments, the portfolio includes additional clean energy, electrification, and sustainable mobility companies.
