Sutter Hill Ventures is a Palo Alto-based venture capital firm founded in 1964, one of Silicon Valley's oldest and most consistently high-performing venture capital partnerships with a sixty-year track record, and a managing director team that includes Mike Speiser, who has an extraordinary track record of co-founding and incubating companies. The firm invests from seed through growth stages with initial checks from $5 million to $20 million. Snowflake, the cloud data platform, was founded from within Sutter Hill's incubation programme with Speiser as CEO in residence before completing the most valuable software IPO in history on the NYSE in 2020. Pure Storage, the all-flash enterprise storage company, completed a NYSE IPO in 2015. Vlocity was acquired by Salesforce. Lacework is a portfolio company. Beyond its original investments in Snowflake, Pure Storage, Vlocity, and Lacework, the portfolio includes Zuora, Malwarebytes, Cohesity, and additional enterprise and cloud technology companies.
