Upfront Ventures is a Los Angeles-based seed, Series A, and Series B venture capital firm founded by Mark Suster, investing in consumer technology, enterprise software, and marketplace businesses with a particular focus on the Los Angeles technology ecosystem. The firm invests with initial checks from $1 million to $8 million. Bird, the electric scooter and micromobility company, was backed by Upfront Ventures. Ring was backed by Upfront Ventures before its acquisition by Amazon for approximately $1 billion in 2018. Maker Studios, the YouTube multi-channel network, was a portfolio company acquired by Disney. Invoca, the call tracking and conversation intelligence platform, is a portfolio company. Beyond its original investments in Bird, Ring, Maker Studios, and Invoca, the portfolio includes additional consumer, enterprise, and marketplace technology companies.
