Wayra is the global startup accelerator and corporate venture capital arm of Telefónica, the Spanish multinational telecommunications company, providing pre-seed and seed capital to early-stage technology companies with potential strategic relevance to Telefónica's telecommunications business. The firm provides initial investment of $50,000 to $250,000 alongside three to six months of intensive support, mentorship, and access to Telefónica's commercial infrastructure. Portfolio companies include Cornershop, the Latin American grocery delivery marketplace acquired by Uber in 2021; Workana, the Latin American platform for remote freelance work; Cumplo, the Chilean peer-to-peer lending and invoice financing platform; and Guiabolso, the Brazilian personal finance management and fintech platform. Beyond its original investments, the portfolio includes hundreds of additional early-stage technology companies globally.
